Das BKF \u2013 B\u00fcro f\u00fcr kuratorische Forschung wurde am 24. M\u00e4rz 2025 um 18:35 Uhr von Julia Heunemann und Ulrike Riebel gegr\u00fcndet, um die Praktiken, Politiken und Felder des Kuratierens in Form von Ausstellungen und Publikationen zu erkunden.
It opened its doors for the first time on June 12, 2025, at Turmstra\u00dfe 75, 10551 Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Julia Heunemann<\/a> is a scholar of culture and media studies and works as a curator of contemporary art, as well as in the fields of editorial work, archiving, and Art in Public Space.
Together with Ulrike Riebel, she is Artictic Director and Chairwoman of Kunstverein Tiergarten.<\/a> and taught at the University of the Arts (UdK) Berlin<\/a> and the Bauhaus-University Weimar<\/a>, where she is working on her dissertation on historical research into the deep sea.
Julia Heunemann has catalogued and researched large portions of the \u201cArtist Files\u201d of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection Venice<\/a> and of the Mail Art-Archive of Ruth Wolf\u2010Rehfeldt and Robert Rehfeldt<\/a> In her curatorial practice, she explores the relationships between knowledges, collections, and art, and brings contemporary art, everyday objects, scientific instruments, and archival materials into multifaceted dialogues. She publishes<\/a> zu Kunst und wissensgeschichtlichen Themen und kuratiert Ausstellungen u.a. im Zirkusgeb\u00e4ude Chisinau (Republik Moldau), im B\u00e4renzwinger Berlin<\/a>, the galerie weisser elefant (now Kunst Raum Mitte<\/a>) in Berlin, the museum FLUXUS+<\/a> in Potsdam, the Kommunale Galerie Berlin,<\/a>, the Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten<\/a> , and for the Brandenburg Gate Foundation at the Max Liebermann Haus<\/a>.
She lives and works in Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ulrike Riebel <\/a>studied philosophy and curating in Leipzig, Reykjav\u00edk and Vienna. She is co-founder of the art association Plusnull e.V. <\/a>and the project space Institut f\u00fcr Alles M\u00f6gliche<\/a>, Berlin. In 2020, she joined the board of directors, and in 2026, she became co-artistic director of the Kunstverein Tiergarten.<\/a>.
In her practice, she focuses on the development of new and experimental curatorial arrangements. This work is characterised by the breaking down of traditional exhibition formats and takes place in spaces that question the classic display of art. She has curated exhibitions at KW Institute for Contemporary Art<\/a>, at Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten<\/a>, at MAK Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna<\/a>, at B\u00e4renzwinger Berlin <\/a>and the Japanischer Pavillon in Dresden<\/a>. 
Since 2023, she has been further developing her curatorial practice in the Riebel.Rohrbach collective, founding the OFF space for curatorial experiments K29 in D\u00fcsseldorf in 2024 and co-editing the M-OFF magazine Takeovers.
She lives and works as a freelance curator in Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
